ProWork initiative: European launch

London, 10 March 2014

It is with great pleasure that I grant the European Parliament’s high patronage for the Thessaloniki event” –says Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament in his letter to the President of the Intercivil Society and the to the ThessaloWiki youth team, referring to the European launch of the Intercivil Society’s ProWork Initiative, to create jobs for young people in Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain. The event is under the patronage of the European Parliament.

The event will take place in Thessaloniki in the evening of 14 March 2014. Ioannis Boutaris, Mayor of Thessaloniki, will open the event, with the participation of Greek and Portuguese young people and in the presence of Greek, European and international media.

ProWork will be creating jobs for young unemployed people so that they do not have to leave their own countries in search of a job. It will also offer safe and affordable retirement for senior citizens from less sunny European countries and create new trust, new prosperity and a new, intergenerational way of life in Europe.

The projected outcome of the event will be three public invitations by Greek and Portuguese youth, in association with the Intercivil Society; the first call to young people of southern Europe to join them in creating jobs for themselves; the second call, as an invitation, to senior citizens of other European countries to make good use of the young people’s offered services; and the third call to European institutions and governments to support them in re-uniting Europeans.
